Winford Parish Council Compost Site

Low cost or even free good quality compost

Did you know that Winford Parish Council makes its own compost, available at a very reasonable cost of £1.25 a bag or £10 for 10 bags.  Lorry and trailer loads can also be collected from the site free of charge if taken via a local weighbridge.  For details please see below.

The site

The Parish Council compost site is located on Kingston Lane, High Winford, opposite the Cricket Club.  It has been running successfully for fifteen years, managed and maintained by the Parish Council and volunteers.  The site has been inspected and approved by the Environment Agency.

The green garden waste is deposited by local residents in the Parish and surrounding villages.  The stacked material is inspected and foreign matter extracted, and then professionally shredded and allowed to mature.  It is then screened professionally and matured into good quality compost.

How to get your compost

The offer of free lorry and trailer loads is made if the material is directed through the weighbridge at Freemans Farm, on the A38, accompanied with a simple Parish Council docket to record the weight.  We can put you in touch with a suitable contractor if required.
